Introduction

October 11, 2009

This opening chapter starts with a background to this rough and tough journey in exploring and examining press differences in Asia. The backgrounder aims at justifying the journey. And a map guiding this journey is a framework of prioritization. The framework guides identification and investigation of factors that have been shaping press differences in different countries in Asia. The framework is based on the concept of symbiotic, pluralistic and co-existent different press systems. Approaches to various explorations and examinations along the journey are elaborated to conclude this introductory chapter.
